Saint-Petersburg, Russia - April 16 to April 17, 2010 Joint Ventures - From Birth to Death Joint UIA-AIJA Seminar

This zone is open to registered participants only and enable you to consult your registration and the seminar reports.

From the earliest of times, people have found the need and advantages of pooling their resources or knowledge together in achieving a common goal. For a business entity in today’s economy, this still holds true in many cases. The reasons for forming a joint venture are as many and varied as the shape the joint venture may take itself and the legal challenges associated with the setting up, running, and, eventually, termination of a joint venture are correspondingly complex.

This seminar will examine all the major aspects of joint ventures, including the alternatives to setting up a joint venture and the advantages and disadvantages of the different approaches. It will provide insight into considerations to be made in relation to the form of the joint venture, the practicalities of conducting the business of the joint venture and important aspects of terminating it. More specific questions, such as dispute resolution, the impact of competition law and other regulatory hurdles and financing will be dealt with as well. The venue of the seminar and speakers will also provide a unique opportunity to obtain a greater insight into some important aspects of Russian law in relation to joint ventures.

In true AIJA and UIA tradition, the social programme and open atmosphere of the seminar will serve to enable the participants to establish important contacts and friendships.
